Korean Exfoliating Mitt
When I lived in Los Angeles, I used to visit Koreatown for an Akasuri Body Scrub at the Olympic Spa. It’s best to arrive at least an hour before your appointment to soak in the hot tub, enjoy the mugwort tea bath, and relax in the steam room (there’s also a cold plunge pool). The experience is nothing short of incredible—if you have a Korean spa near you, I highly recommend this treatment. We’d often joke about how we didn’t want to open our eyes during the scrub because we'd watch the outer layer of our skin roll off (it’s a bit off-putting, to be honest). But trust me, nothing compares to the way you feel after—your skin has never looked or felt better. You literally glow.
This mitt (also known as an Italy Towel) is made from the same material used in professional scrubs. (Instructions included.)
Here are just a few of the many benefits:
Unclogs pores
Exfoliates dead skin cells
Increases blood circulation
Reduces inflammation
Removes toxins
Improves cell regeneration
Stimulates the nervous system
Softens fat deposits
Encourages collagen production
Prevents ingrown hairs
Helps prevent spider and varicose veins
May reduce the appearance of cellulite
Reduces the look of stretch marks
To get the most out of your mitt, follow these simple steps:
Dry brush before entering the shower or tub.
Soak in the shower or tub for at least 5 minutes to soften your skin.
Step out of the water without drying off, and begin scrubbing with the mitt using gentle, short strokes, always moving toward the heart.
Rinse thoroughly. While your skin is still damp, apply a layer of body oil and gently pat dry with a towel.

DIRECTIONS
Prepare Your Skin: Take a warm bath or shower for at least 5-15 minutes to soften your skin.
Get the Mitt Ready: Wet the mitt and wring out any excess water.
Exfoliate: Gently rub the mitt on your skin in straight lines or circular motions. Use lighter pressure on sensitive areas like the neck and chest, and firmer pressure on thicker areas like elbows and knees.
Rinse and Moisturize: Rinse your skin thoroughly to remove loosened debris, then towel-dry and apply a hydrating body lotion.
Frequency: Use the mitt 2-4 times a month, as suggested by Amazon, or once a week, according to Vogue depending on your skin's tolerance.
Tips:
Avoid face: Unless you have a face-specific mitt, avoid using the mitt on your face.
Listen to your skin: If you feel any pain or discomfort, go easier or stop.
Avoid over-exfoliation: Too much exfoliation can irritate and damage your skin.
Don't use with soap: Korean towels are designed to create friction, and soap can interfere with that process.
Stretch the mitt: After soaking, the mitt might shrink, so stretch it back to fit your hand.
Replacement: Replace the mitt every 3 months.
