Dry brushing stimulates the lymphatic system, promotes circulation, exfoliates dead skin cells, and may help reduce the appearance of cellulite over time. A regular morning dry brushing routine is also known to leave many people feeling energized and lighter throughout the day.
-
Always brush on dry skin before showering. Use long, sweeping strokes toward your heart — start at your feet and work upward, and from your hands toward your shoulders. Apply gentle pressure; the sensation should be invigorating, not painful.
-
Most people benefit from 3–5 times per week. Daily use is fine if your skin tolerates it well. If your skin becomes red or irritated, reduce frequency or pressure.
-
After each use, tap it against your sink to remove dead skin cells. Every week or so, wash the bristles with mild soap and warm water, then let it air dry bristle-side down or hanging. Replace when bristles become worn.

They’re very similar. The round brush covers slightly more area with each stroke so could save a little time. I also prefer the feel of more bristles on the surface-area of the round brush.

GENERAL TIPS / READ BEFORE USING
It is recommended to dry brush before you get in the shower or bath, but it’s not essential to shower or bathe to reap the benefits. You can dry brush at any time of day. Mornings are especially beneficial as dry brushing increases your energy levels.
If you don’t dry brush daily, stimulate the lymph node zones on your body by gently karate-chopping or slapping these areas BEFORE you start.
Popliteal Lymph Nodes: behind the knee
Inguinal Lymph Nodes: groin, where your leg meets your pelvis
Epitrochlear Lymph Nodes: soft inner arm, crook of the elbow
Axillary Lymph Nodes: armpits
If you dry brush daily, you may not need to take the extra step of stimulating the above 4 lymph node areas on your body — but it certainly doesn’t inhibit the process.
You can use firm or gentle strokes, depending on your skin sensitivity and/or how often your dry brush (the more you do it, the harder you can brush). You can also use either long + sweeping strokes, or short strokes, going over each area two or three times. Long sweeping strokes are particularly effective for lymphatic drainage while short or circular strokes are better for a relaxing self-massage and/or improving digestion.
DRY BRUSHING INSTRUCTIONS
Start at your feet and brush up your calves, using short, gentle strokes. Work your way toward the Popliteal Lymph Nodes (behind your knee) always moving toward your heart.
Brush up your thigh, moving toward your Inguinal Lymph Nodes.
On your stomach, below your belly button, brush downward toward the hip joint (Inguinal Lymph Nodes). Above your belly button, brush upwards toward your heart. You can additionally brush in a clockwise direction on your stomach to promote better digestion.
When you start on your arms, begin at the hands and work toward your Epitrochlear Lymph Nodes.
It should not hurt, but do be firm. Dry brushing takes about 3-5 minutes.
Wash your brush weekly if you dry brush every day, monthly if you dry brush on a weekly basis.
