TURN YOUR BATHROOM INTO A SPA

Did you know that warm water on your skin releases the feel-good hormone of oxytocin? Do you look forward to your bath or shower, or is it you check off your list/are too busy to enjoy? Continue reading, and find easy ways to create accessible yet luxurious acts of care that nurture both your physical and mental well-being.

 

 

SUNDAY SHOWER (HELPS WITH MONDAYS)

  1. Light a candle and make a drink; warm or cold, something healthy, relaxing or both. Put on your robe.

  2. Apply body oil to scalp and massage thru to ends of hair (4oz oil best with dropper). wrap in hair towel and leave on for 20 min

  3. After 10 min, mix clay mask with water (or choose another liquid) and use brush to apply to face, neck and décolletage. Mist occasionally with a hydrosol to keep it gentler/avoid drying + cracking. Let dry for 10 min

  4. While you’re waiting for mask to dry, use sandalwood comb to distribute oil and massage scalp (see directions to stimulate your meridian pathways)

  5. Before you get into shower, dry brush

  6. Keep windows/doors closed for steam shower effect

  7. For extra scalp stimulation and extra bubbles use your shampoo brush while washing your hair. You can also work your conditioner through to the ends with this tool.

  8. Make sure to use an exfoliating cloth for… gentle exfoliation

  9. When you’re finished apply body serum all over and massage it with the water on your skin until it is fully absorbed. Gently pat dry with towel

  10. Sprinkle some linen powder onto your sheets, blow out your candle and drift off into a peaceful sleep

 

 

ONSEN SOAK (JAPANESE BATHING RITUAL)

  1. Light a candle

  2. Dry brush

  3. Rinse off/get clean under a warm shower

  4. Pour a hot bath with bath salts

  5. Soak for 10-15 min

  6. Get out + cool down for a few (if needed)

  7. Soak again for 10-15 min

  8. Rinse off under a cold shower stream

  9. Apply body oil, lightly towel dry

  10. Put on robe, meditate, read or listen to music...

  11. Relax + Enjoy

 

 

WEEKNIGHT SHOWER TO UNWIND

  1. Dry brush

  2. Tie up hair or wrap in towel

  3. Apply generous layer of body oil

  4. Stand under hot water for 5 min

  5. Gently pat dry

  6. Apply sleep serum to soles of feet and put on a pair of socks

 

 

STRESS RELIEF SOAK

  1. Light a candle

  2. Dry brush

  3. Apply generous layer of body oil or body serum

  4. Run bath, add 1/2 C mineral milk bath to water

  5. Soak for at least 20 min

  6. Gently pat dry with towel

  7. Massage sleep cream into bottom of feet

 

 

AFTER SUN CARE TO SOOTHE + RESTORE

  1. Oil your scalp, run comb thru to distribute and massage meridians

  2. Very gently dry brush

  3. Run a cool to warm shower

  4. Use shampoo brush to ensure hair oil is completely rinsed out

  5. After shower but when skin is still wet, apply body serum

  6. Gently pat dry with towel, or air dry

  7. Put on robe to allow more time for oil to absorb into skin

  8. Apply balm to heels, elbows, hands and anywhere that needs a extra hydration

  9. Turn on a fan, make yourself a refreshing beverage and relax

 

 

AYURVEDIC HAIR OILING

  1. Apply oil to scalp and massage thru to ends of hair

  2. Use meridian comb to evenly distribute oil and stimulate scalp

  3. Wrap hair in microfiber towel and leave on overnight

  4. When you wash it out, use a shampoo brush to ensure a clean scalp

 

 

BIRD BATH

  1. dry brush using long strokes toward the heart

  2. run a washcloth under hot tap water you and wring it out well

  3. use 2-3 (at least) pumps of body oil or serum directly onto the warm cloth

  4. work from the ground up using the cloth to clean, moisturize, and wipe away the exfoliated skin from dry brushing

  5. relax in your robe for a a few minutes before dressing to let the oil fully absorb.
