The main challenge in creating this formula (which took literal years) was getting the right consistency for the exfoliants, and fine salt + ground walnut shells turned out to be gentle and effective. It was also important to me to keep the polish on your skin instead of the shower floor. I ended up adding a small amount of natural coconut surfactant which holds the formula against skin while you work it in, allowing time for each ingredient to do its job.

The hero ingredient, manuka honey, is known for its antimicrobial and humectant properties, drawing moisture into the skin and helping to maintain a healthy barrier. Pink Himalayan salt draws out impurities with trace minerals that support healthy skin function. Cold-pressed sunflower oil is high in vitamin E and essential fatty acids, and shea butter (rich in vitamins A and F) soothes, nourishes, and locks in hydration. Helichrysum supports cell renewal, calms inflammation, and pairs perfectly with sweet orange and ylang ylang essential oils.

a note on the packaging: when body scrub is in a tub, wet hands can introduce bacteria. My formulation includes a very clean preservative, but to keep it 100% germ-free, as well as earth-friendly, I decided to put it in an aluminum tube. It can be a somewhat difficult to squeeze out, so I recommend adding a tube key the first time you purchase.

Works for body, hair + face:

• After your shower or bath, smooth onto skin, massaging the water and oil together then wrap yourself in a towel.

• Before the bath. Dry brush and apply body oil while the tub is running. It cleanses your skin while you soak.

• Or indulge with a light application pre-shower instead. Oils are cleansing and pull dirt and toxins from our skin to feel clean, soft and moisturized.

• Take care of your biome with the opposite of an Everything Shower — give your skin a break by just using (very gentle) soap on your pits, privates and feet. Then massage in oil while still wet from shower and go.

• Apply after dry brushing and/or before lymphatic treatments

• Massage onto scalp before shampooing. For extra benefit and to spread evenly throughout hair, use a scalp massage comb. Leave on up to 20 min. You can also do this in the shower before shampooing for a few minutes and still get results… for this quickie version use a shampoo brush.

• Use as a hair conditioner — post-shampoo, leaving on for a few minutes and then rinsing thoroughly as you would a conditioner.

• While hair is damp, run a small amount of oil through the ends to tame frizz/moisturize

• Post-shower or bath, enhance your favorite body lotion by adding a couple pumps of oil for extra hydration benefits

• Shave your legs or armpits using oil instead of shave creams. Great for last minute when you’re running low on time.
