THE FORMULAThe challenge with a wash like this is that everything good for your skin tends to work against the foam. Oils, honey + proteins can work against lather, so finding the right balance was key.
The hero ingredient, manuka honey at 12%, is a natural humectant, drawing moisture into the skin and helping maintain a healthy barrier. Aloe vera + colloidal oats soothe and comfort reactive skin, while glycerin and sodium lactate, a component of skin’s own Natural Moisturising Factor, hold hydration in place. Hydrolyzed rice protein leaves a fine conditioning film that stays behind after rinsing, and jojoba, a lightweight wax ester, keeps skin comfortable rather than tight. Panthenol supports the moisture barrier even in a rinse-off, bisabolol calms skin that runs sensitive, and apple extract brings polyphenols along for the ride. Sweet orange, ylang ylang + chamomile essential oils round out the scent.
WARNING: this product contains honey + oat.
As you should with any body or hair product, do a patch test first to make sure you don’t have any sensitivities.
HOW TO USE
Wet skin + exfoliating cloth or gloves. Pump a small amount onto the cloth and squeeze a few times to build lather. Massage over the body in slow circles, giving the actives a moment to do their work. Rinse well. Gentle enough for daily use.
FAQs
-
Daily is fine. The surfactant system is built around gentle plant-derived cleansers rather than sulfates, so it washes without stripping. If your skin runs very dry in winter, every other day with a rinse in between works well too.
-
It was formulated with sensitive skin in mind. Colloidal oats, aloe + bisabolol are all there specifically to calm things down, and the pH sits in skin’s comfortable range. That said, it does contain essential oils. If you react to fragrance of any kind, do a patch test on a small area first.
-
Plant-derived cleansers need a little more air + agitation than sulfates do. The trick is to lather on a damp cloth or gloves before it touches your skin, squeezing a few times to work air in. You’ll get a dense, creamy foam rather than the big squeaky bubbles sulfates make, and your skin will thank you for it afterward.
-
This one is formulated neck down. The lather is a little more robust than most faces want, and facial skin does better with a wash built for it. Stick to the body.
-
No SLS or SLES. The cleansers here are decyl glucoside, coco glucoside, sodium cocoyl isethionate + sodium lauryl sulfoacetate, all plant-derived and chosen for mildness. Sodium lauryl sulfoacetate looks like a sulfate at a glance but is a completely different, much gentler molecule.
-
No. Manuka honey is the hero ingredient here, so the formula is vegetarian but not vegan. Everything else in the bottle is plant-derived.
-
The formula is gentle + rinse-off, with essential oils at low levels. Still, essential oil sensitivity varies a lot during pregnancy, so check with your provider if you have any concerns.
